Singapore, 7th November 2014
Symphony WMS-Online user, Boon Software Consulting customer and notable fashion brand Charles & Keith hosted a field trip for final year students from Singapore Polytechnic in the Diploma in Business Administration (Supply Chain Management) on 7th November. An initiative led by Symphony AcademyTM to create new learning value the Symphony Community.
The students have been trained to work on Symphony WMS-OnlineTM as a project to setup a warehouse and execute operational transaction via the software in the classroom. The aim of the field trip is to crystallize the learning outcomes of the classroom and allow the students to gain first-hand ‘real world’ insights of a notable warehouse operation such as Charles & Keith led by automation and technology from Symphony Logistics SuiteTM. This will benefit the student greatly as they will graduate to be leaders in the supply chain industry.
Here are some of what some of the student had to say about the visit:
“My first thought when going to a warehouse was for it to be messy and very stuffy, however Charles & Keith’s warehouse was totally different from what I expected. It was High-Tech and executed with Symphony RF Barcode, the rows and column were neat and process were all in order and very clear. Overall, I feel that technology provided by Boon Software Consulting have one of the greatest impact on the efficiency of a warehouse. Symphony WMS-Online has not only eliminated human error but also help Charles & Keith ensure that the inventory can be kept neatly.”
“Overall, it was an eye opening experience for me to visit Charles & Keith’s warehouse since it was the first time we were there. It was quite interesting to see how the warehouse works and all the people working with Symphony Logistics Suite to make the entire operations run smoothly and efficiently. It allowed me to learn through observation instead of just reading and learning through lecture notes which I find more useful for my learning!”
Finally Mr Tang Kah Heong, Senior Manager of the Diploma in Business Administration from SP shared in his message:
“We would like to thank Boon Software Consulting for coordinating the industry visit to Charles & Keith warehouse, the students gained first hand ‘real world’ insights and have greatly benefited from this valuable experience. We look forward to more of such collaboration in the future.”
